The Keys to Mastering Surface Pattern Design

It’s August, which happens to be one of my favorite months of the year because…

My dear friend and surface pattern designer, Bärbel Dressler, offers an amazing FREE workshop called: The Keys to Mastering the Craft of Surface Pattern Design.

If you’re reading this, you probably know that I offer surface design courses as well. So you might be wondering… Why is she promoting someone else’s program? Well, let me tell you why.

I took Bärbel’s free workshop several years ago and absolutely loved it. Bärbel has a very unique take on surface pattern design through the lens of history. I don’t know about you, but I loved history classes in both high school and college. It’s fascinating to learn about surface design by following the history of repeating patterns through the ages. Repeating patterns go way, way back! And Bärbel has an encyclopedic knowledge of historical pattern types which is fascinating.

Bärbel Dressler’s The 3 Keys to Mastering Surface Pattern Design

Bärbel is an accomplished surface pattern designer, based in Sweden, who creates the most spectacular designs. I love her work! Her designs are featured on a variety of products and sold around the world. It’s very impressive, even more so because she used to be stuck in a boring corporate job!

In her free workshop, she draws the curtain back on foundational pattern techniques and the masterful way that she creates her own historically-inspired designs. She loves the history of pattern design and she shares her knowledge with passion and love.

Her free workshop starts next week on Monday, August 12. Here’s an overview of what you’ll learn:

  • The essential keys to mastering the craft of surface pattern design

  • The evolution of patterns and some of history's most influential pattern styles

  • Barbel's own process for studying and figuring out how to create patterns inspired by historical styles

  • The foundational pattern building blocks and composition tools and how to use them intentionally to diversify our pattern repertoire

  • The 5 composition types that all patterns are based on and how to use them as a plan for expanding your skills and repertoire

Do you want to take this workshop together with me? If you want to build out a stellar repertoire of surface pattern designs and learn the fascinating history behind them, jump into Bärbel’s free workshop HERE.

She is mixing things up this year with some live sessions interspersed with the recorded lessons which is going to make it really engaging and lively. Click HERE for all the details. Join me and let’s do this together! I know you’ll love it.

xo,

Anne

P.S. Don’t forget to join me LIVE on Wednesday on my Facebook business page or on my YouTube channel. I’m live at noon pacific time which is 3pm eastern time. I’ll share more exciting details about Bärbel’s free workshop. You really don’t want to miss it.

P.P.S. I’m so convinced that you’ll love it and find it incredibly valuable that I’m an affiliate partner. That means that, at no extra cost to you, if you decide to enroll in her paid program, Repertoire, which opens at the end of the free workshop, I may be paid a small commission.
