Natalie retired from a successful 30-year career as a Software Engineer, but her passion for art has been with her since childhood. Early on, she enjoyed crafting and photography with her dad, but it wasn't until adulthood that she took her first drawing lesson. Like many who believe they “can’t draw a straight line,” Natalie discovered that art is less about technical precision and more about how we see and interpret the world around us. This realization fueled her creative journey, leading her to explore various mediums, from pastels and charcoal to oils and mixed media.
Embracing Digital Photography and Surface Pattern Design
Natalie’s love for photography blossomed as she explored drawing and painting. She found joy in capturing moments with her camera, leading her to dive into digital photography. This creative outlet opened up new possibilities, eventually guiding her to my “From Doodles to Dollars®” course. As a technically inclined person already familiar with Photoshop, Natalie was eager to learn how to create repeating patterns using Illustrator. Doodles provided exactly what Natalie needed to transform her photographs into stunning surface patterns, unlocking a whole new avenue for her artistic expression.
Turning Passion into Purpose
Natalie’s creativity doesn’t stop at her own artistic pursuits. She has shared her knowledge and passion for art through teaching, both as a paid instructor and as a volunteer, including three years of service at the Veterans Administration Hospital. Her heart for inspiring others is evident in every aspect of her work.
In January 2024, Natalie joined my Creative Business Mastermind program with clear goals in mind: to complete and launch her online photography course. With the encouragement and support of the mastermind group, along with Anne’s expert guidance, Natalie achieved her goal. She successfully launched her founding member program in May, guiding a small group of students through a six-week course designed to make photography accessible and enjoyable. Natalie’s “Path to Your Best Shot” framework has empowered her students to take great photos with any camera, including cell phones, by teaching them to think like artists and focus on composition and timing.
The Power of a Creative Mastermind
Natalie’s success story is a testament to the power of joining a group of like-minded, goal-oriented creatives and enjoying all of the benefits that Creative Business Mastermind provides.
