Doodles Coaching Week - Starts January 17!
Well, hello there, my friend. If you have been around these parts for a little while, you know that from time to time, I do this amazing training called the Doodles Coaching Week. I’m offering it again and it’s updated with new features. I’m always looking for ways to make your learning experience better, easier and more engaging.
Let me explain why it’s so much fun and valuable. We start by talking about the Surface Design industry, and Surface Pattern Design more specifically, along with the incredible opportunities this industry makes available to us. Then we switch gears and get super tactical with hands on training in Adobe Illustrator. You’ll learn, step by step, how to create your first repeating pattern by following what I like to call my Three Golden Rules. This is my fool-proof method for creating a repeating or seamless pattern. If you follow the steps in order and without skipping any of them, you pattern design will come out perfectly every time.
What’s new this year is that I’m offering a series of short videos Netflix-style which will make following along much easier. You’ll be able to watch each short lesson in the series and easily go back to watch a specific step again if you need to. You won’t have to wade through long replays to find the segments of the training that you need the most.

What exactly will I learn during Doodles Coaching Week?
You’ll learn, step by step, how to create your first repeating (seamless) pattern using Adobe Illustrator. At the end of the coaching week, you'll have a design that you can send off to turn into fabric, wallpaper, wrapping paper, stationery products, pretty much anything that you can imagine.
Why Adobe Illustrator?
Adobe Illustrator is an incredible program and is often the program most requested by companies when they’re interested in licensing (renting) your designs. It has opened more doors for me than I could have imagined when I was first starting out.
Learning Adobe Illustrator, using my step by step method, is absolutely doable. I learned how to use it in my late 50s and I remember exactly what that felt like. Using my approach, you’ll learn one baby step at a time. If I could learn it at 58, so can you. And you’ll have me by your side every step of the way. I make it fun, accessible and very step-by-step.
What supplies do I need? You’ll need:
a computer - a Mac or a PC (a Chromebook will not work)
you’ll get access to a 7-day free trial of Adobe Illustrator
some simple Doodles or sketches - don’t worry, I’ll give you some examples to make this part easy
a phone or scanner, and
your enthusiasm and focus - the Coaching Week goes by really fast! Block off time now between Jan 17 and 25 so that you’re fully engaged and get the most out of this unique learning experience.
What support do you provide during the Coaching Week?
There’s a combination of live trainings and recorded video lessons. This makes learning fun and you’re not doing it alone. We’re better together and the community - #annesuniverse - is supportive and encouraging
You’ll have daily homework assignments. I’ve found that the more engaged you are in completing each step, and showing me your work along the way, the more you learn and retain these new skills
There’s a private Facebook group just for students going through the Doodles Coaching Week together. The community support is fantastic. You’re gonna love it
You’ll get feedback from me on your work. I’ll show you how to post your homework in our private Facebook group so that I can give you feedback and troubleshoot any issues that come up
We’ll do demos - this is super fun! You’ll send me your file and I’ll show you exactly what you need to do to move to the next step and complete your pattern design successfully
In addition to the live coaching, video lessons, and homework reviews, I also provide written instruction sheets. We all learn differently, right? It’s great to learn new skills with all different types of materials which is why I’ve created beautiful, step by step, written guides for you.
Do I get lifetime access to the Doodles content?
No, you don’t. This is a limited time learning experience that lasts a little over a week

What happens after the Coaching Week?
In full transparency, I can’t possibly teach you everything you need to know about becoming a successful surface pattern designer in just one week. LOL.
